What Is Care Monkey?

CareMonkey is a parent-controlled Electronic Health Form (EHF) designed for organisations with a duty of care, such as Scouts. With Care Monkey, parents can update medical information promptly and accurately and provide consent for activity attendance with the click of a button.

Care Monkey eliminates a lot of the paperwork that scouts have been using for decades - such as the paper E-1 form that is required for every off-site activity. 

​

With Care Monkey, those E-1 forms become electronic, AND Care Monkey remembers all your child's medical data, so you don't need to fill it out each time. Just tick the box to grant your permission for the activity, verify that the information is up to date, and the job is done!

Why Do I Need Care Monkey?

​

Scout groups all across NSW are moving over to Carer Monkey as the system under which we will operate for medical records and permissions forms. It will save everyone - parents and leaders - a lot of headache. At 1st Avoca Beach Scout Group, we will no longer be sending out such paper forms for activities. You are highly encouraged to get on board with Care Monkey now, so that you are ready for the next off-site activity.

Is Care Monkey a website? Or is it an App on my phone?

It is both of these, and you can use Care Monkey either way.

If you download the Care Monkey app on your phone (it is a completely free app), then you are able to complete a permissions form on-the-go.

What is the Cost?

​

Care Monkey is absolutely 100% free to you. The costs are built into your child's membership in scouting.

 

Is It Safe To Put My Child's Personal Information On Care Monkey?

​

Care Monkey is working with sensitive medical data for hundreds of schools, clubs, and sports teams across Australia and around the world. They go to great lengths to protect your data and your privacy. Care Monkey is an Australian business. Their entire business depends on their reputation and the trust that customers have - so you can bet that they treat privacy and security seriously. Scouts Australia NSW is working with Care Monkey, to move towards this paperless way of doing things. The Scout Association also takes privacy of its members extremely seriously, and also has high demands of Care Monkey to protect members' data. 

 

Who Can See My Child's Information?

After you create a care profile for your child, you will share it with 1st Avoca Beach Scouts on Care Monkey. Within our scout group, the only people that can see your child's profile are the leaders directly involved in that section of our group. For example, this means that a Scout leader, cannot see the profile of a Joey Scout, and vice versa. We also have two administrators that maintain the system, and they can see the profiles of all members.

What's In It For Me?

​

1. Your child is safer during any scouting activity, because leaders involved in that specific activity have all the child's most up-to-date information at their fingertips. They do not have to try to find paperwork. They know the information is current and accurate, because Care Monkey takes care of that.

2. You will no longer need to fill out those pesky E-1 paper forms. You will save a ton of time and hassle when you can just click a button to provide your legal permission for your child to attend an activity.

When Should I Set Up A Care Monkey Profile for my child?​

 

ALL youth members in the group should have a care monkey profile - even those that are just trying out scouts.​

How Do I Set Up A Care Monkey Profile?​

​

Probably the easiest way is to fill out our quick form and we will send you an invitation through Care Monkey to create a profile that is connected to our group.​

​

Why do I keep Getting the Same Emails From Care Monkey?

​

Once Care Monkey knows that you have a child in our group, the system will automatically email you and ask that you set up a care profile for your child. If you ignore the Care Monkey email, it will keep reminding you periodically until you do create the profile, or respond to the request that was put to you.  The way to stop these emails is to just take a moment, and respond to the request.  It takes just a few minutes - literally, no more than 5 minutes in most cases to create a new profile.

It is the same for invitations to join an activity sent through Care Monkey. If you ignore the invitation, Care Monkey will continue to ask you about it until you respond. If your child cannot attend an activity, just "decline" the invitation and Care Monkey will stop asking you about it. It takes just a few seconds to decline a Care Monkey invitation.

 

Will This Make Scouts Activities Truly Paperless?

Almost! It will remove 95% of the paperwork. There will still be a paper form to enroll in scouts. But the paper E-1 form will mostly go away. Right now, not every scout group or district has adopted Care Monkey, but this will change. For now however, district activities will still use paper-based E-1 permission forms.
